Cozy Corner is a Memphis legend housed in a tiny, unassuming room on North Parkway, smoking some of the city's most soulful barbecue since 1977. Founded by Raymond Robinson and still run by his family, it is the rare institution whose fame rests on a dish you cannot find anywhere else.

That dish is the BBQ Cornish hen, a whole bird rubbed dry and slow-smoked until the skin crackles and the meat slides from the bone, a Memphis original in the truest sense. The smoked bologna sandwich is nearly as iconic, a thick-cut slab off the same pit, the wet ribs are properly tender in the house tomato sauce, and the spaghetti carries the same North Memphis smoke. Come early: the kitchen keeps short hours and sells out, a legend that never learned to stretch itself thin.
